Federal Inmate Takes Life at Hudson County Correctional Facility
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ - A federal inmate being held at the Hudson County Correctional Center in Kearny committed suicide earlier this week, officials confirmed to TAPinto. Edison Council Approves Salary Maximum Increases for Three Department Heads
EDISON, NJ - The township council has approved an ordinance to increase the maximum salary range for three department heads. The council unanimously approved the ordinance at their regular meeting on Wednesday. The maximum salary for the business administrator will increase from $230,000 to $236,900, the maximum salary for the Director of Water and Sewer will increase from $195,000 to $197,000, and the maximum salary for the Director of Public Works will increase from $195,000 to $197,000.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER According to the ordinance, the maximum salary increase is to adjust for the cost of living. Earlier this year, the council passed a similar ordinance for other department officials. Fatal Crash in Franklin Township: Investigation Ongoing
SOMERSET, NJ - A fatal crash in Franklin Township is under investigation, according to a news release from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office. On Saturday, Aug. 24, Franklin Township Police responded to a report of a submerged vehicle in the Delaware Raritan Canal at Canal Road and Grouser Road.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER The Somerset County Dive-Rescue Team recovered a 31-year-old Skillman man, the vehicle's sole occupant, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle, a 2024 Honda Civic, failed to stop at an intersection, struck guardrails, and became airborne before landing in the canal. The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office or Franklin Township Police Department.
