A 42-year-old man has been booked in connection with the Saturday morning stabbings of four people at a Scottsdale bar, police said.

Joseph D. Eschief, who was taken to a hospital early Saturday morning after being hit by a barstool in the brawl, was released and taken to the Scottsdale City Jail about 2 p.m. Feb. 24, according to a release from the Scottsdale Police Department.

The stabbings occurred just after 1 a.m. Feb. 24 at the Playa Bar, which is near McDowell and Granite Reef roads. Two of the victims were patrons of the bar, and the others were working security, police said.

They all were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Eschief faces charges of aggravated assault – causing serious physical injury and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The worker who hit him with the barstool is not facing charges as police said they believe he was acting in self-defense.

Two other people were arrested for their involvement in a separate incident related to the original one, police said. Antonio N. Eschief, 27, and Selena Dewey. 46, were booked into the Scottsdale City jail on disorderly conduct charges and released with an upcoming court date.
