Ex-Seattle Kraken Morgan Geekie, who admits to being an American history buff, created some of his own in his first season with the Boston Bruins.

Geekie played two effective seasons in Seattle before being signed last summer by Boston to a two year, $4 million contract.

"At first, Geekie's role wasn't exactly defined," says Causeway Crowd , "but as the season wore on, he became a fixture on Boston's power play, anchoring the man-advantages center role. Geekie also played the role of third line center perfectly."

With the Bruins, Geekie set career-bests in a half-dozen categories: goals (17), assists (22), points (39), games played (76), shooting (13.1%), and TOI (15:24).

Causeway Crowd called Geekie, "One of the more dynamic skaters that the Bruins had out there in the postseason." His four goals in 13 playoff games tied for second on the team.

The site gave Morgan a more than acceptable overall grade of B+. "Geekie was disciplined on the ice, took the shot when he needed to, but was not afraid to dish out a pass when someone was open."

    Kraken Suffer League-Worst Offensive Decline

Many observers cite the offseason loss of 4th-line contributors Geekie and his linemates for the Kraken's steep offensive drop in 2023-24.

As Dobber Hockey points out , "Offseason departures of Daniel Sprong, who potted 21 last year, as well as Ryan Donato, who potted 14 last year, resulted in the team's offense falling off. During the 22-23 campaign, the team had 13 players tally 13 or more goals. This season, they had just six break that mark."

The site notes that Seattle regressed from 4th in the NHL in scoring two years ago (3.52 goals-for per game) to 29th last season (2.61 goals-for per game).
