A couple other teams may have a case, but we'll take the Seattle Seahawks' wide receiver room over any other in the NFL right now. While Houston and Santa Clara have multiple stars at this spot, the Seahawks have a superb 1-2-3 at wide receiver and damn good No. 4 option as well in Jake Bobo. As impressive as Seattle's receiver room is, none of them are actually among the game's elite talents at this position - at least according to league executives.

In a new poll from of NFL coaches, scouts and execs, ESPN has ranked the top 10 wide recievers in the league right now. Justin Jefferson is at the top of the list as he should be, followed by Tyreek Hill, Ja'Marr Chase, CeeDee Lamb and Davante Adams rounding out the top five. One name you won't see on the list is that of DK Metcalf, who just barely made the cut in last year's rankings at No. 10. You won't find him in the honorable mentions list, either even though he did receive at least some votes.

This will be a bitter pill to swallow for Seahawks fans, but the truth is Metcalf has elite ability but as of yet he hasn't consistently produced at a top-10 level. We have seen glimpses, though.

Thus far Metcalf's best individual game was his dominant playoff performance against the 49ers after the 2022 season, posting 10 catches, 136 yards and two touchdowns against one of the toughest defenses in the league. As far as his best year goes, we'd pick 2021, when he put up 75 catches, 967 yards and 12 touchdowns while playing on a broken foot for most of the season.

There is hope that Metcalf may yet reach his full potential, though. It comes in the form of a new staff led by head coach Mike Macdonald and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. If Macdonald can get DK playing more disciplined than Pete Carroll could and Grubb can boost his ceiling schematically, Metcalf might finally break through and join the conversation for best receiver in football.
