The Seahawks will be better than the media thinks they will be in 2024, no question. Unless Geno Smith winds up going down with a season-ending injury we fully expect this team to win no less than eight games. While we expect improvement, right now they're probably not ready to take on true contenders like the 49ers. So, in Year 1 of this new era the best measure for success will be how they perform against teams that have been dominating them in recent years - namely the division rival Rams, who have never lost to Seattle when Matt Stafford is in the lineup.

While Stafford certainly has something to do with it, the biggest reason why has been LA's head coach Sean McVay far outmatching Pete Carroll in the Xs and Os battle, particularly in the second half of games. If new head coach Mike Macdonald can turn that dynamic around it will represent a massive improvement in this department.

Good news: McVay is extremely impressed by what he's seen so far. Here's a clip of him gushing over the work that Macdonald did with the Ravens.

There's no guarantee that Macdonald will find the same success in Seattle, but this is yet another promising nugget that indicates he's about to make this team much more competitive than it has been the last few years.
