Rite Aid to close over 30 stores in Washington - full list here

Rite Aid is closing down even more stores after filing for bankruptcy in October. The pharmaceutical giant made the restructuring move to significantly reduce its debt , with over 200 stores now due to be axed.

The majority of the US drugstore chain closures have been in Ohio and Michigan but the Philadelphia-based company has now confirmed another state is in the firing line - Washington State.

Rite Aid has announced it will close 36 stores in the state of Washington . The 36 locations amount to about 5 percent of the 699 announced closings that Rite Aid has announced.

Rite Aid’s bankruptcy plan was approved at a court hearing in June in Trenton, New Jersey . This means the pharmacy chain can cut $2 billion in debt and turn over control of the company to a group of its lenders, according to CNBC.
