NCCU student crowned Miss North Carolina
North Carolina Central University sophomore Carrie Everett was crowned the 2024 Miss North Carolina on Saturday night at High Point Theatre. Everett, who is also Miss Johnston County, will represent the state at the upcoming Miss America pageant. During the competition on Saturday, Everett promoted her community service initiative, “We Need Equity to Build Communities” and performed “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going" from the musical “Dreamgirls.”

WCC signs transfer agreement with FSU
GOLDSBORO – Wayne Community College is partnering with Fayetteville State University in the four-year school’s Bronco Benefit guaranteed transfer initiative. FSU established the Bronco Benefit transfer program to create a supportive and seamless process for students graduating with associate degrees in approved transfer degree programs who meet the university’s transfer admissions requirements to gain a direct-entry pathway to FSU.
Clayton High’s Pegues wins Sam Narron Award
Dominic Pegues, a June graduate of Clayton High School, has received the 2024 Sam Narron Baseball Award. The annual award goes to a Johnston County high school senior baseball player who showed a love for the game through determination, dedication and sacrifice.
