Matt Sieg is continuing to receive hype in a rapidly evolving recruitment. Sieg — a 6-foot, 170-pound athlete from Fort Cherry in McDonald, Pa. — holds offers from Akron, Nebraska, PSU, Pitt, Syracuse, WVU and Wisconsin, and he’s playing quarterback and defensive back at the high school level. It appears likely that Sieg will be recruited primarily as a safety, but wherever he ends up on the field, he’ll be one of the highest-recruited WPIAL players in the class of 2026.

Head Diving Coach Wenbo Chen Joins 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Staff
MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota Head Men's and Women's Diving Coach Wenbo Chen has been named a U.S. Olympic Team Assistant Coach for the third time in his career. This week, USA Diving announced the staff for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Chen will join Indiana University's Drew Johansen, who will return for his fourth consecutive stint as Head Diving Coach for Team USA. Former Gopher women's diver Sarah Bacon will be among the athletes Chen is set to coach, as she earned a spot to represent the United States in Paris this summer. She will compete in the 3m synchro and 3m individual events.

Gopher hoopsters in summer workouts

Twin Cities Championship returns to Baker National
For the first time since 2018, Baker National Golf Course will co-host the Twin Cities Championship. The tournament will span two-days starting at Theodore Wirth Golf Club on June 29 before finishing at Baker on June 30. >Twins clobber Tigers 12-3 in rain-shortened game at Target Field. (Minneapolis, MN) — The Twins turned things around big-time after last night’s 9-2 loss, beating the Tigers 12-3 this afternoon (Thurs) at Target Field when the game was called for rain in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jose Miranda had five hits, including two doubles, four runs, and three R-B-I’s. Winning pitcher Bailey Ober says, “Felt good the whole game. Early on felt great. Hung an 0-2 breaking ball in the first, guy put a good swing on it. And, then I kind of leaned on my stuff the rest of the way and I knew that I was putting the ball in spots that I needed to and ended up being able to go through and finish six. Minnesota opens a three-game series against Houston tomorrow night at Target Field.
