Valley of the Kings Sanctuary and Retreat needs your help. This animal sanctuary and retreat is located at w7593 Town Hall Road in Sharon Wisconsin has been here for quite some time and would like to continue doing what they do. For over thirty years the Sanctuary has been dedicated to the rescue and refuge of abused, abandoned, and injured animals. The Valley of the Kings has been home to a diverse group of animals including farm animals, bears, wolves, lions, and tigers, all animals in need are welcome. The sanctuary is a volunteer-run facility and is dedicated to the animals it cares for. Right now, the Sanctuary is in urgent need more than ever before.
Lions Beach Closed Until Further Notice
The City of Janesville Recreation Division takes weekly water quality samples at Lions Beach (1401 Palmer Dr.). The State Hygiene Lab in Madison tests these samples to monitor for E. coli bacteria. The beach's most recent water quality test performed the week of August 19 showed elevated bacteria levels (2,419.6 CFU/100 mL) in the swimming area. These results require the Recreation Division to close the beach until subsequent water testing can be done, demonstrating lower results.

Maxwell Street Days is this weekend. This Friday through Sunday, August 23rd through the 26th is all about shopping downtown Lake Geneva. The downtown businesses will have the sidewalks filled with unique items at fabulous prices. This is an annual tradition in Lake Geneva and a very popular shopping event. So many locals and visitors venture downtown and shop at their favorite shops. It’s a great time to pick up a couple of unique back-to-school items, start some Christmas shopping, or just grab a few things you’ve been eyeing up. The retail shops start the deals off at a great discount but as the weekend continues more discounts are sometimes offered. Make sure to take a stroll through downtown Lake Geneva and check out the deals.
