    Kohler-Andrae offers Tree ID, Discovery Bird Walk, Music in the Park and more in early August

    SHEBOYGAN - Kohler-Andrae State Park , 1020 Beach Park Lane in Sheboygan, is offering the following events in early August. A vehicle admission sticker is required. For more details, call 920-451-4080.

    • Tree ID: 10-11 a.m. Aug. 5. Hike the Woodland Dunes Trail with Master Naturalist Deb Lisberg. Learn to identify trees, find out the differences in types of trees, how they grow and how to tell their age. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at the Woodland Dunes Trailhead near the Playground and parking lot P8.
    • Discovery Bird Walk: 8-10 a.m. Aug. 6. Meet master naturalists Janet and Andy Raddatz to observe birds and nature in the park. Walks may take two to three hours depending on what is seen. Participants can leave at any time. For ages 12 and older and children must be accompanied by an adult. No pets allowed. Bird walks meet weekly. Meet at the Friends Pond parking lot P9.
    • Discovering Wildflowers: 1:30-2:30 p.m. Aug. 7. Join Master Naturalist Karen Merlau and discover the many wildflowers growing along the Black River Trail. The hike will last at least an hour. An adult must accompany children. Meet at the Black River Trail parking lot, P1.
    • 20,000 Years in the Blink of an Eye: The Past, Present, and Future of the Great Lakes: 7-8 p.m. Aug. 7. Embark on a biological journey of discovery from the shaping of the Great Lakes by the glaciers, to human alterations and into the future climate. Learn about the habitats of the Great Lakes and how they are important to our ecosystems. Meet at the Sanderling Nature Center, parking lot P3.
    • Who Lives in the Pond?: 9:30-11 a.m. Aug. 10. Whirligigs, turtles, fish and frogs all live in ponds. Explore Friends Pond and see what can be found. Wear shoes that can get mucky. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at Friends Pond, parking lot P9.
    • Music in the Park: Spiritual Currents Performance and Drumming Circle: 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 10. Blending his background in jazz with the sounds of indigenous music from around the globe, Ryan Meisel’s “Spiritual Currents” is a presentation of music that blurs the lines between performance, meditation and soulful exploration. Go for the concert, stay for the drumming circle. Meet at the amphitheater. Park in lots P4, P5 or P6.
