VA Senators announce $625,000 to reduce youth substance use
HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine announced on July 12th, $625,000 for community-based coalitions in Harrisonburg, Roanoke, Ashland, Rocky Mount, and Luray to reduce youth substance use. The funding was awarded through the Office of National Drug Control Policy’s Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program.
Home Sales Slow in June in Northern Virginia
Home sales across Northern Virginia were down 13.8% in June compared to a year before, according to new data from the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors® (NVAR). Six killed on Virginia highways over July 4th holiday
Preliminary data indicates six individuals lost their lives in six traffic crashes during the five-day statistical counting period designated for the July 4, 2024, holiday. Of those who died, one was a pedestrian struck in a hit-and-run crash, four were drivers and one was a passenger. The fatal crashes took place in the City of Richmond and the counties of Bedford, Charles City, Henrico and Wythe counties. Two of the fatal crashes occurred in Bedford County. During the two-day statistical counting period for July 4, 2023, traffic crashes claimed seven lives on Virginia’s highways.*
