SHERMAN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Sherman Police Department is actively looking for a village truck that was stolen on Monday.

Department officials said the flatbed truck was stolen from the Public Works facility. Mayor Trevor Clatfelter told WCIA that the facility was secure; it appears that someone used an axe to cut a hole into the side of the building. The axe was left at the building near the hole.

In addition to the truck, the suspect(s) also stole a trailer that was attached to it, and two lawn mowers that were on the trailer. The total value of the items stolen is around $150,000

The Sherman Police Department said the truck — a Ford F550 — is red with the words “Sherman Pubic Works” printed in gold on the doors. The truck’s license plate is M197084 and the trailer’s is M994134.

Anyone who has information on the truck’s theft or who sees it is asked to contact the Sherman Police Department at 217-496-3256.
