Pedestrian killed in Port Richmond in crash involving driver wanted out of Bucks County
A driver wanted in Bucks County was captured after a tragic accident in Philadelphia's Port Richmond section.The victim was standing behind a parked van on the corner of Frankford and Allegheny avenues around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday when he was struck.The crash happened just two blocks from his home.Police say surveillance video shows the car the wanted man was driving was traveling east on Allegheny Avenue when the vehicle jumped the curb, slammed into a concrete barrier, then a metal barrier before hitting a 38-year-old man.The victim was launched roughly 30 feet into the intersection, police say.The pedestrian died at the scene.ALSO SEE: 30-year-old woman on bike killed after being struck by speeding driver in Center City PhiladelphiaThe driver is a 41-year-old man, according to police. Two Women in Separate Incidents, Each with Probation Warrants Set off License Plate Reader Notifications Jailed
Back to back arrests of two women with arrest warrants whose license plates set off notifications to police were jailed in separate incidents earlier this week. According to police, on July 15 just before 7 pm., an officer on patrol on the 200 block S. Main street was notified of a hit via the automatic license plate reader on a vehicle with a registration suspended for insurance cancellation. The officer then observed the same vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the subject vehicle. Upon confirming that the operator of the vehicle had an active arrest warrant issued by Bucks County Adult Probation, the officer arrested the 42-year-old woman from Yardley on the warrant. The woman was processed and remanded to Bucks County Prison. The vehicle was released to a family member. Additional motor vehicle violations may be filed.
Handyman Accused of Stealing Equipment from Couple in Hilltown
A local handyman has been charged with felony theft after he allegedly stole "pump ladder jacks” from a couple in Hilltown Township. The investigation began in November 2023, after a couple went to the Hilltown Township Police Station to report an alleged theft. The couple told police they became power of attorney over a deceased relative’s property in early 2022, and had used a handyman to perform various work at the property since that time.
