Police investigating deadly head-on crash in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa ( KCAU ) — One person died after a head-on crash in Sioux City on Saturday.

According to a release, emergency responders were notified of the crash at 1:27 a.m. and were dispatched to the Highway 20 and Highway 75 bypass at mile 3.

The release states that officials determined that a 2012 Kia Forte had been traveling south in the northbound lanes when it collided with a 2020 Chrysler Pacifica that was heading north.

The driver of the Kia had to be extracted from the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead. The driver of the Chrysler was also taken to a hospital to receive treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
