A two-alarm fire broke out inside a vacant home in Somerville on Tuesday afternoon. Videos obtained by News 12 New Jersey show the moments after the fire erupted from the second floor of the home located at 25 East Cliff St. The fire started around 3 p.m. It took eight fire companies to get the fire under control. Neighbors say they were all looking out for each other to make sure they were safe. “The neighborhood got together and started making phone calls, making sure everything was OK,” says Cynthia Blumenkrantz. Mayor Brian Gallagher says that the house was over 100 years old. The level of response that we had is absolutely incredible…their ability to get in quick, knock it down and preserve the homes around it is incredible,” the mayor says. One firefighter was injured and taken to the hospital, but officials say that his injuries were not related to fighting the fire. The owner of the home lives out of state, according to officials. "
