49th Annual Jazz Festival at Augustana University to Feature Renowned Pianist Matthew Whitaker

Jazz enthusiasts are in for a treat as the 49th Annual Jazz on the Upper Great Plains Festival is set to take place at Augustana University. This year's event, held in the Fryxell Humanities Center's Hamre Recital Hall, will feature performances from the prestigious Augustana University Northlanders Jazz Band, as well as talented middle and high school bands from across three states.

The festival kicks off early on Tuesday, March 5th at 7:45am, with a series of competitive performances by high school bands that will continue until 11:30am. The afternoon will bring a special jazz concert at 12:00pm, featuring guest artist Matthew Whitaker, a renowned pianist and organist, accompanied by the AU Faculty Jazz Combo. Following the concert, awards will be presented for class B and class A competitors at 12:45pm.

The music resumes with more competitive high school band performances from 1:00pm to 6:30pm. The evening will culminate with a headline jazz concert at 7:30pm at the R Wine Bar and Kitchen, where Matthew Whitaker will once again grace the stage alongside the AU Faculty Jazz Combo.
