SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KCAU) – People attending the Dakota-Thurston County Fair may come across a different trailer than they’re used to seeing.

PETA has parked their “hell on wheels” hyper-realistic chicken transport truck outside the Dakota-Thurston County Fair.

The outside of the truck is covered with images of real chickens, along with actual chicken sounds being played. PETA says the message of the truck is to encourage people to go vegan.

Fair organizers say they are open to answer any questions people may have on how their fair attendees take care of their poultry.

“The PETA truck is going to be here and they’re going to be doing some protesting, and that’s great,” fair manager Lisa Bousquet said. “I would encourage them and anybody that has any questions to definitely come and talk to some of the exhibitors here, some of the 4-H, too, there are some with their families. We’d be glad to tell them about the safe and humane practices that we do with our animals.”

The PETA truck will be outside the Dakota-Thurston County Fair Thursday August 1 before going to Sioux Falls for the weekend.
