Issued Zones: Los Angeles Coast/Basin … All of Orange, San Diego, Riverside, and Imperial County … Baja, Mexico … Offshore Islands …

Site: Southern California Weather Force has issued a Thunderstorm Watch effective today, peaking overnight, and into Friday …

Date Issued: 12/21/23 at 8:30am local

Forecast: A cutoff low is impacting the region through the watch period. As more lift associated on the eastern periphery is enhanced further, thunderstorms will be likely. Thunderstorms will move from south to north across the affected zones.

While isolated activity can be expected today, the heaviest dynamics will arrive in the San Diego zones between 9-10pm tonight and spread north from there.

As the low moves east over the day on Friday, continued off and on showers and thunderstorms will be likely, ending from west to east through the later evening and night hours.

Storms in the watch area can produce waterspouts, funnel clouds, hail, high winds, and flooding conditions. There is indeed a small area of stronger dynamics that will hit the Western Baja Coast down through Ensenada that can produce better tornado chances, a rarity.

NOTE: Alerts are posted on here, be it a tornado watch, etc, and these alerts are issued from this office and nowhere else. At times, which is often, you will see an alert forecast posted on here that you do not see elsewhere.
