Landfalling Waterspouts or Small Tornadoes For San Diego Today

Issued Zones: San Diego Coast (San Diego Downtown) and east to I-15

Site: Southern California Weather Force has issued a Severe Weather Advisory effective now through 1pm.

Date Issued: 1/22/24 at 7:00am local

Forecast: A storm system moving through the area will continue to bring heavy rainfall. This advisory is for the increasing low-level shear dynamics behind the main front.

This, with some instability and backing southeasterly winds near a surface low coming in out of the west will bring a chance of strong waterspouts, and even landfalling and/or developing into small tornadoes, which can cause damage.

This window is about a four-hour window between the hours of 9am and 1pm.
