Maynord Hired As Upperman Athletic Director
Upperman High School welcomes a familiar face as its new Athletic Director, Jimmy Maynord. Maynord spent over 40 years working in various coaching and administrative roles throughout the Upper Cumberland, before semi-retiring in 2021. He said that his experience and knowledge of the area will help him in this new role.

Fresh off a Class 4A state championship game appearance, the Cookeville Cavaliers will be searching for a new head coach as Joshua Heard resigned on Monday. Heard coached 5 seasons with the Cavaliers and led them to the program’s first region championship and state championship game appearance in 2024, where they finished runner-up behind champion Independence.

Cookeville Set For Orientation Thursday Afternoon
Cookeville High School hosting freshman orientation Thursday to allow students and families to get familiar with the school. Principal Karen Trentham said students at the event can get their schedule and student ID, pay their fees, and walk around campus to find their classes. Trentham said there will also be a brief assembly for students and parents about various events at the school and rules for items like pick up and drop off.
