    Arkport's Bryant Reynolds shoots top score at NYS High School Bullseye Tournament

    It’s a bullseye for a Steuben County high school archer.

    Bryant Reynolds, a junior at Arkport Central School, was the top male archer at the 2024 New York State Tournament in Syracuse.

    Reynolds racked up 286 points with 19 tens. That made his overall boys rank first out of 339 competitors.

    Emilia Pepe from Norwich High School was the overall top female archer in the tournament, also finishing with a score of 286 and 19 tens.

    Reynolds and Pepe not only earned big trophies, they also each received a New York Champion Genesis bow with case and arrows.

    More wins for Arkport, Canaseraga archer shines

    Arkport tenth-grade students Curtis Hartman and Nolan Morey both finished with 282 points. Hartman had 17 tens to 13 for Morey. Hartman and Morey finished in first and second, respectively, for tenth-grade boys.

    Wyatt Mullen of Canaseraga Central School in Allegany County shot his way to 237 points to be the top boys Elementary School level archer in the tournament.

    Students who place in the top 10 in each division qualify to represent New York state in May at the National Tournament in Louisville, Ky.

    Nearly 700 students from 36 schools from across New York competed March 15 in the 14th Bullseye Tournament on the State Fairgrounds.

    Students and schools competed in one of three divisions: High School, grades 9-12; Middle School, grades 6-8; and Elementary School, grades 4-5.

    “Archery is a great way to connect people to the outdoors and grow the next generation of conservationists. DEC is thrilled to see the number of participants in the New York National Archery in the Schools Program continue to grow,” said DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos.

    The New York State National Archery in the Schools Program Tournament is offered only to students who participated in the program during in-school classes taught by certified NASP teachers.
