ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Spencerport man pleaded guilty Thursday in connection to what prosecutors called a fraud scheme.

Prosecutors said Michael Grimm, 44, engaged in document fraud, wire fraud, bank fraud, retail theft, and identity theft. He and at least one other person, through theft or fraud, got merchandise from local shops. They then returned the stolen goods in exchange for gift cards or store credit, which they sold to others.

Grimm admitted to stealing personal information and credit information to make fraudulent car and hotel purchases. That information was used in attempts to open credit cards and take out loans.

At least 10 victims were identified, totaling thousands of dollars in losses.

Grimm pleaded guilty to wire fraud and faces up to 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when sentenced on November 11.
