SPOKANE, Wash. — Seven police officers and a police dog were injured when three suspects crashed into an armored vehicle Friday afternoon, according to the Spokane Police Department.

On July 19 around 12:56 p.m., SPD identified a suspect vehicle used in a recent drive-by shooting.

Two minutes later the suspects broadsided an SPD armored vehicle while speeding through the intersection of Oak and Carlisle.

SPD said a second police vehicle was also involved in the crash.

According to SPD, three suspects involved in the chase were taken into custody.

“This particular incident highlights the challenges our patrol officers are up against every day with the number of shootings they investigate and the behavior of the suspects, not only while committing these violent crimes, but the great lengths they’ll go to escape. It puts the community at risk,” said Interim Police Chief Justin Lundgren.

"Several Spokane Police officers were injured today while making an arrest. Any injury is tragic, but I am grateful it did not result in the loss of life. My thoughts are with the officers and their families,” said Mayor Lisa Brown of the incident.

Everyone involved is expected to recover from their injuries.

The intersection of Oak and Carlisle is currently closed for the investigation.

Further information will be released at a later time.

Anyone with any information about the recent shootings or that has footage from this incident and has not been contacted is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.

    This is a developing story.
