SHELL LAKE — We live in a busy, distracted culture, yes? Smartphones demand our attention with their beeps and rings and songs telling us someone wants our attention. It might just be a marketing communication or a political ad or reminder that a technician is on their way. Or it could be a weather alert, a calendar reminder or a contact from your family. We might be grateful for the communication. Or not.

Too often, by the end of the day, we’re too exhausted to reflect on our day — and our lives. Claudia Schmidt is an antidote to our distracted malaise.

Schmidt is returning to the Shell Lake Arts Center on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. for an evening of song and storytelling. As one of her audience members told her, “I felt our collective effervescence tonight!”

Another commented, “Thank you for reminding me about joy.”

This will not be a passive, “entertain me while I sit here” experience. You are invited to bring your energy and actively engage the experience. When it is done, you’ll return home feeling full of life again.

Schmidt performs with a 12-string guitar and also uses a dulcimer. With songs and stories, she will touch your heart and your memories. Throughout it all, you will be part of a unique experience with other audience members and this strong performer.

You can buy your tickets in advance at ShellLakeArtsCenter.org/Community-Events/ or buy them at the door the night of her performance.
