SARONA — Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary has a number of events coming up in the next couple of weeks.

Hunt Hill will be hosting a Beasts & Beer program at the Washburn County Wellness Center 50+ in Spooner on Wednesday, April 3. Check-in is at 5:30 p.m. with an opportunity to socialize with other nature enthusiasts before the presentation begins at 6 p.m. This month’s topic is Forest Fungal Secrets.

Beasts & Beer is a monthly program that gives nature lovers an opportunity to socialize with others over snacks and beverages and enjoy an engaging presentation from a local expert in a happy hour atmosphere. Each Beasts & Beer program features a different presenter at a different location.

This month’s speaker is mycologist and author Tavis Lynch. Learn the intricate relationships between mushrooms and trees and uncover the web of connections that sustains forests. Mushroom partnerships will be highlighted, as well as their impact on the health and resilience of the northern Wisconsin region.

Registration is required by Tuesday, April 2, at noon or when the program limit of 90 people is reached, whichever comes first. To register, visit www.hunthill.org to complete online registration or call 715.635.6543. There is a fee that includes a drink and snacks.

Hunt Hill will be hosting a Little Explorers program on Saturday, April 13, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the sanctuary in Sarona. This is a children’s program mini series happening on select Saturdays of each month from February to April. This month’s theme is Sorting Out Nature.

Join Hunt Hill for a morning of cats, stories, songs and nature activities geared toward 3- to 6-year-olds (but all ages are welcome). Guardians must stay for the duration of the program. Depending on the weather, we will be outside for a portion of this program. Dress appropriately to be inside and outside in the weather.

Registration is not required but strongly encouraged by Friday, April 12, at noon. The program is free, but donations are appreciated. If you register ahead of time, you must register yourself and your child(ren). For more information or to register, visit hunthill.org or call 715.635.6543.

Hunt Hill will be hosting its second-annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Earth Day event will be ROOT(ED): an educational selection of businesses, organizations and individuals whose purpose and passion have displayed immense stewardship to the earth in the local community. This event will feature educational presentations by area environmental experts, hands-on activities for kids, live music, a farm-to-table-themed lunch and more.

This program is free to the public. Registration is not required but strongly encouraged. This event will be limited to 150 people. To register, visit www.hunthill.org or call 715.635.6543.
