Special event May 11 at the Rice Lake Speedway

RICE LAKE — Rice Lake Speedway LLC, the new owners of the Rice Lake Speedway, will roll out their first special event on Saturday night, May 11. The Springtime Modified Spectacular, presented by emr and D. Jenkins Electric, will feature a 30-lap Modified feature paying the winner $1,200, and will pay $100 just to start the main event.

The racers will also benefit, as there will be no draw fee or entry fee for the event, and the regular pit admission will also prevail. For the race fans, there will be a huge benefit for them also, as the spectator admission prices will not be raised for this event, with regular Saturday night admission prices charged. And along with the Modifieds, there will also be a full show in the four other WISSOTA classes that race on Saturday, so there will be plenty to see for fans of all racing divisions.

The Modifieds will use the passing points formula to line up their racing events, while the other four classes will use the regular program point invert format. WISSOTA national points will be awarded to all five divisions, with all but the Modifieds also getting track points for their night’s efforts.

This will be the first Modified special event offered by the speedway in several years, and a solid field of drivers is expected to be on hand to try and steal the money from the local contingent of drivers. And along with the Modifieds, expect the other four divisions to continue to put on the outstanding racing action that they have demonstrated so far this year.

Fans and competitors should be aware that the speedway has new, earlier starting times for 2024. The pits open at 3 p.m., with their draw cutoff at 5:30 p.m. The first green flag will drop at 6 p.m. The latest information is available on the speedway website and Facebook page, and to contact the speedway, call 715.236.2002 or email to ricelakespeedway@gmail.com.

The Rice Lake Speedway is located 1 mile north of Rice Lake midway between State Highway 48 and Barron County Highway SS.
