SPOONER — The Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce and the community helped raise $15,598.17 at the April 25 Food & Wine Tasting benefit for the Spooner Police Foundation and presented the check to the foundation on Friday, May 31.

There were over 200 food and beverage vendors from the area participating at the new venue for this year’s event, the Burch Barn in Spooner. Over 300 people bought tickets and attended this year, with many businesses sponsoring to make it possible. Barry Nelson provided live music, and Celebrations Event & Party Rental donated the use of all tables, chairs and decorations.

With silent auctions, raffles, pull tabs and ticket sales, the Chamber raised the most money it has at the Food & Wine Tasting since the first year it was held.

The Spooner Police Foundation is a 501©3 nonprofit formed on Aug. 1, 2016, to provide support to the Spooner Police Department and further grow the bond between the department and the community.
