Woman gets probation for spitting in officer’s eye
A Rice Lake woman was sentenced to probation on Tuesday on charges filed after police say she punched and kicked a process server, spit in an officer’s eye and resisted arrest at the Rice Lake Public Library in November 2022. Amy S. Seeger, 39, had been facing four charges on Tuesday going into Barron County Circuit Court. Musky Fest fishing contest to be held June 20-22
The Hayward Lakes Chapter of Muskies Inc. and the Hayward Bass Club will host the 2024 Hayward Musky Festival catch-and-release fishing contest June 20-22 on area lakes, rivers and flowages. Fishery biologist to speak at Stone Lake
The Stone Lake Historical Society will host a presentation by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources fishery biologist Craig Roberts at 7 p.m. Wednesday June 19 at the Stone Lake Town Hall. Man sentenced to prison for burglary
A Rice Lake man will be spending time in prison for burglary and bail jumping. Tommy L. Robinson, 51, had pleaded guilty to felony burglary on Aug. 9 in Barron County Circuit Court while possessing a firearm by out-of-state felon charge was dismissed and read into the record. Work on Rice Lake south side intersection has begun; completion slated for August
Road work has started on the intersection of Decker Drive and Highway O/South Access Road on the south side of Rice Lake. Funded with help from the Highway Safety Improvement Program, the Barron County project aims to increase motorist safety. According to the state Department of Transportation, 18 crashes were reported at the intersection between 2017 and 2022, and all involved a vehicle entering Highway O from Decker Drive. SHELL LAKE — Another school year has ended, but members of the Shell Lake track team set a few new records for the next classes to shoot for. Among the accomplishments were the new members of the Century Club, awards for students who earn more than 100 points in a season. Club members were Dalton Anderson 238, Brenna Shafer 221, Lucas Jacobson 206, T.J. Hanson 196, Liam Hammond 196, Chase Anderson 158, Athena Lehman 132 and Spencer Palmer 113. The 4x800 team set a new school record of 8:31.37. Members were Logan Christel, Palmer, Jacobson and Dalton Anderson. A new Shell Lake School record was established by members of the 4x200 team with a time of 1:35.36. Members were Chase Anderson, Jacobson, Hammond and Hanson. New Shell Lake School records were set by Dalton Anderson, with new times of 2:02.59 in the 800-meter run and 4:36.30 in the 1,600-meter run.

SHELL LAKE — The Shell Lake Lions Club has been generous in its distribution of nearly $10,000 to worthy causes in Washburn County recently.
