Buffalo Bills stock report: Winners & losers from preseason loss to Bears

    By Jarrett Bailey,

    Huh. Well that stunk.

The Buffalo Bills were handled by the Chicago Bears 33-6 to open up their preseason.

Despite the beatdown, there were a handful of notable performances - both good and bad. Here is the first stock report of the season

    Stock rising

    RB Ray Davis

Davis showed that he is going to battle for every yard. He caught a pass over the middle short of the stacks, but fought through multiple Bears tacklers for a 13 yard gain. His offensive line did him no favors, and will get to that later, but he finished the day with three catches and the impressive run after catch.

    LB Dorian Williams

Williams had five tackles and a sack to open up his preseason. After being mainly a depth piece as a rookie, the Tulane product could be the top rotational linebacker behind Terrel Bernard and Matt Milano.

    WR Andy Isabella

In what was one of the very few notable offensive plays of the day, Isabella had a 15 yard reception, and he also looked solid as a returner. Special teams is the most likely path for Isabella to make the final 53-man roster, and he protected the ball and could see his opportunities increase next week.

    Stock sinking

    QB Mitch Trubisky

I knew it was officially football season when Trubisky had Quinton Morris wide open down the seam for a touchdown and he threw it over his head into the third row. There are a good amount of lousy backup quarterbacks in the NFL, and Mitch Trubisky is their admiral.

    WR KJ Hamler

Hamler didn't play awful. He had a 15 yard punt return, but he also muffed a kickoff. Like Isabella, Hamler's best path to make the roster is as a returner, and dropping kicks won't help his cause.

    WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling

MVS has had an issue with drops in training camp, and those issues carried over into the preseason opener. He dropped his first target of the game, and finished the afternoon with zero catches.

    Offensive line.

Just all of them. The Bills couldn't run the ball all game no matter who was up front. Buffalo's running backs had a total of 19 carries for 36 yards on the day. Absolutely dreadful.
