The defending Super Bowl champions have the best quarterback in the NFL, one of the best tight ends, and most recently made their kicker the highest paid in the NFL.

Their newly extended kicker was commencing a kickoff following the team taking a three-to-nothing lead and, in the process, became one of the first victims of the new kickoff rule. Second-year wide receiver Parker Washington was back to receive the kick for the Jaguars, and once the ball was in his hands, his vision took over.

Washington was able to return the ball to well within Kansas City Chiefs territory by getting 73 yards out of the kickoff. It is one of, if not the, longest return by an NFL team this preseason following the kickoff rule changes for player safety.

The return that made it’s way deep into Chiefs territory resulted in a six-play drive for the Jaguars, which ended in a touchdown. In the preseason, Trevor Lawrence found Travis Etienne to recreate some of their classic Clemson Tiger magic.

Not many people have been vocally supportive of the new rule but this points to the play style change can gardner results.
