Bengals legend Anthony Munoz believes Amarius Mims could start right away

One of the standouts in the early portions of training camp for the Cincinnati Bengals has been rookie first-rounder Amarius Mims. Mims is getting an opportunity to shine in camp, getting first-team reps with the injury to presumed starting right tackle Trent Brown – and he has made the most of his opportunity. Mims has been flashing the skill that made him a first-round pick, and has performed well enough for many to speculate if he could start opening day.

Mims came into the Bengals first preseason game riding some serious momentum, and one former Bengals legend has taken notice. Prior to kickoff of their first preseason game, the local FOX station asked former Bengals left tackle and current TV network analyst Anthony Muñoz about Mims’ camp performance. Muñoz seems to be on board the Mims’ hype train, saying:

"From what I've seen, I've been to three practices. I would be 100 percent comfortable having No. 71 at the right tackle protecting Joe Burrow," Munoz said. "What I've seen has been amazing for a man that big. The way he moves, the way he's able to dip. But the most important thing that I've noticed for a rookie offensive lineman is the patience he has in pass pro."

The Hall of Fame left tackle isn’t the first to suggest that Mims could win the starting job, either. Earlier this week, ESPN’s NFL reporter Dan Graziano dropped his training camp notes for a number of teams, including the Bengals . In those notes, he spoke highly of the Bengals’ rookie offensive lineman, and speculated that he could be well on his way to winning the starting job .
