The New York Giants seemingly avoided a major injury scare when it comes to superstar rookie Malik Nabers.

The No. 6 overall pick exited practice Sunday during the final team period with an apparent injury, and it turned out to be a mild ankle sprain.

The Giants initially were not overly concerned about the injury, and it seems those initial beliefs are staying true.

According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, Nabers is reportedly considered day-to-day with the mild ankle sprain.

That's a huge sigh of relief for the Giants even though Nabers could still miss some time this week as training camp wraps up.

They are set to visit the Houston Texans for their second preseason game Saturday afternoon so it remains to be seen if they take the cautious route and hold the rookie out.

Starting quarterback Daniel Jones is expected to play against the Texans, and it would benefit both players if Nabers could suit up. But the Giants have to be smart with the superstar rookie.

Nabers has already proven what he means to the Giants offense. Though he didn't have a reception in the preseason opener, the Giants got flashes of his dominance during joint practices with the Detroit Lions.

Head coach Brian Daboll might provide an update ahead of Monday morning's practice when he meets with the media, but it seems the Giants avoided a major injury.
