Could Dodgers reunite with veteran hurler? Move would make perfect sense

Should the Los Angeles Dodgers look into a free-agent signing in the near future?

Los Angeles unsurprisingly has been one of the best teams in baseball this year and is considered one of the top contenders to win the World Series this year. The Dodgers are loaded throughout the roster, but injuries have had a heavy impact on the team this year.

The Dodgers seemed like they would have one of the better starting rotations in baseball but injuries specifically have hurt the team in the pitching department. An old friend looking for a new opportunity could be an option to help.

Former Dodgers hurler Rich Hill recently held a showcase for interested teams and it has been reported that Los Angeles has shown some interest in a move.

Hill spent three-plus seasons with the Dodgers from 2016 through 2019 and had a 3.16 ERA across 69 total appearances. He may not be at that level any longer in his career, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t help.

The 44-year-old is a 19-year veteran at this point in his career and likely is more of a back-of-the-rotation starter or low-leverage reliever. Either way, he would be a cheap option to add more veteran depth to the Dodgers.

Last year he appeared in 32 total games – including 27 starts – and had a 5.41 ERA with the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres. If the Dodgers are looking to add pitching, there may not be a better option at this point in the season.
