Broncos claim DB Kaleb Hayes off waivers, release linebacker for a second time

After one preseason game, the Denver Broncos have gone to the waiver wire to find another defensive back to bring into the mix.

Kaleb Hayes, recently waived by the New York Giants, has quickly found a new home in the Mile High City, latching on with Denver. To create room on the 90-man roster, the team has waived Alec Mock for the second time this offseason.

Hayes played at Oregon State and BYU in college but never had a college interception, though he did have 27 pass deflections. He went undrafted last year and signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Most recently with the Giants, he will look to continue his career with the Broncos.

He has yet to appear in a regular season game.

Alec Mock released by the Broncos again

The Broncos recently brought Mock back after releasing him earlier this summer. His second stint with the team lasted just one week. He did get into the game against Indianapolis but just hasn't shown enough for the Broncos to keep him around any further.

It's tough for Mock but the NFL, even with 90-man rosters, is a tough business.

Hayes joins a secondary that is deep and already has quite a few roster spots likely locked up. He will have two preseason games and a handful of practices to make a strong enough impression to be able to be added to the team's practice squad.
