Writing is on the wall for Bills' receiver after latest signing

The Buffalo Bills were defeated handedly by the Chicago Bears 33-6 to open the preseason, and that overall performance this time of year will almost always cause the losing team to bring in outside names. The Bills did just that, as they signed wide receiver Damiere Byrd on Monday.

Byrd played one game in 2023 for the Atlanta Falcons and was released earlier this offseason by the Washington Commanders.

This move doesn’t paint a great picture for fellow receiver KJ Hamler, who muffed a kickoff against Chicago. Hamler was listed as the starting return man on the team’s initial depth chart, but fumbling a kickoff isn’t going to fill the Bills with confidence, especially with rookie Daequan Hardy and Andy Isabella also being available.

Byrd has a kick return touchdown to his credit, as well. It came back in 2017 with the Carolina Panthers.
