After two seasons under Kalen DeBoer, Jedd Fisch is taking control of the Huskies. The former Arizona head coach will lead the program to its new Big Ten era as it tries to live up to last year's results and make the 12-team playoffs.
Meanwhile, Washington State is stuck in limbo. While technically still a Pac-12 team with Oregon State, the Cougars have been temporarily adopted by the Mountain West this year, playing most of its games against the conference.
At least the in-state rivals still have each other. The Apple Cup game will continue its annual tradition in Week 3 of the season. The Huskies have been dominant lately, winning 12 of the last 13 matchups. But last year's was close, with Washington barely getting out alive 24-21. Could the drama of the 2042 football season ignite the Cougars?
