Robert Saleh boldly denies negative effect of New York Jets' Haason Reddick saga

    Distraction? What distraction?

As edge rusher Haason Reddick's training camp holdout entered its fourth week, it was business as usual for the New York Jets in Florham Park according to head coach Robert Saleh.

Despite the fact that the team is missing a high-level starting player , Saleh insisted that the contract dispute and subsequent trade request from Reddick have not affected operations at 1 Jets Drive in any way.

"It's not [distraction]. I promise you it's not," said Saleh after Tuesday's practice. "It's a great opportunity for the guys that are here. We love our D-line. We love our depth, especially at the defensive end position."

That defensive end position is set to look a little different in 2024. Homegrown product Bryce Huff left in free agency and the Jets subsequently traded away John Franklin-Myers. Meanwhile, when he finally arrives, Reddick is projected to start opposite Jermaine Johnson.

Reddick, who's coming off back-to-back Pro Bowl selections with the Philadelphia Eagles , still likely needs some type of acclimation period upon joining a new defense. Although Saleh would like for all players to be present, Reddick's absence has not been a source of frustration for the fourth-year head coach.

"It's not frustrating because I don't have control over it, but like I said, we're excited about our group. Still looking forward for him to get here when he's ready, and when he's ready we're going to embrace him with open arms," said Saleh.
