Boston Red Sox outfielder/designated hitter Tyler O'Neill has had an annoying season in his eyes, as he's dealt with injuries and now a leg infection that's landed him on the injured list again.

O'Neill was placed on the injured list on August 7 (retroactive to August 4) and has been focusing on his recovery since then, but things aren't going the way he'd like.

“Hopefully he’ll be here (Wednesday),” said manager Alex Cora ( via. MassLive ). “I can tell you he’s frustrated. This came out of nowhere and has been taking a long time. We’ve got to get him going baseball-wise, but nothing yet.”

When O'Neill has been on the field, he's impacted the club positively. In 80 games this season, he's hit .268 with a .900 OPS, 22 home runs, 45 RBIs and three stolen bases.

Boston's struggled this year against lefties, so having O'Neill back as a consistent option that Cora can turn to would be nice even if that means not playing Wilyer Abreu or Rob Refsnyder.
