NFL talking head shreds Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback situation

After trading away Kenny Pickett and signing Russell Wilson and trading for Justin Fields, there is no doubt that the Pittsburgh Steelers have upgraded their quarterback situation ahead of the 2024 campaign.

However, if you ask ESPN's Mike Greenberg, the Steelers made two lateral moves in bringing in Fields and Wilson, two signal-callers he clearly is not very high on.

During a recent appearance on " The Pat McAfee Show ", Greenberg didn't hold back on his opinion of the Steelers signal-callers, saying Pittsburgh went from one bad quarterback to two bad quarterbacks.

The comment came when Greenberg was wondering whether or not it makes sense for the Steelers to trade for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk, because he questions if Pittsburgh is a contender.

“Is Pittsburgh (a contender)?" Greenberg asked. "That’s a really interesting question because while I remain a Justin Fields fan, I have to acknowledge at some point the doubt creeps in. The Steelers may have replaced one bad quarterback with two bad quarterbacks. That may be what has happened here.”

Fields and Wilson have no doubt had their issues in recent years, but they have both proven to be infinitely better than Pickett, who might not even be good enough to be the backup with the Philadelphia Eagles .

Putting those two on the same plane as Pickett — and especially a Super Bowl-winning quarterback like Wilson — is just silly.

Not to mention, the Steelers managed to make the playoffs last season in spite of the struggles from Pickett and the offensive line, and they punched their ticket with Mason Rudolph under center.

So, yes, trading for Aiyuk would be a logical move for a team coming off a 10-win, playoff season. And, the Steelers are far better off under center than they were one year ago.
