Tennessee Titans should avoid trading for disgruntled stud pass rusher

The Tennessee Titans ’ current regime has shown a willingness to make bold moves to improve the roster. Trading for L’Jarius Sneed and dishing out big contracts to players like Calvin Ridley and Lloyd Cushenberry proves this team isn’t viewing 2024 as a rebuilding year.

Up in New York, there’s an embattled star who, in theory, makes sense as another addition for the Titans. Haason Reddick was traded to the New York Jets back in April. Even though Reddick has only been a Jet for four months, the edge rusher recently requested a trade due to a contract disagreement.

Naturally, some have floated the idea of a Titans-Reddick connection, mostly because of the suspension Arden Key was reportedly facing. Thankfully, that suspension is no more, as it has been overturned by the league .

Reddick is an elite pass rusher, having secured double-digit sacks in each of the last four seasons. However, the Titans should not be persuaded to go after the veteran, even after the huge update on Key.

Reddick has not even played a single game for the Jets and is already disgruntled and seeking a way out. The edge rusher, who will turn 30 soon, wants a massive contract extension and the Titans will have other financial obligations to think about.

Adding a player who can get disgruntled that easily is always risky. It’s even more risky when bringing in said player would require a massive financial commitment.

Finally, there’s the matter of trade compensation. The Titans don’t have a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after the L’Jarius Sneed trade, so would they want to give up more draft capital for a disgruntled Reddick when they must continue keeping their eye on the future?

The Titans need to let someone else gamble on Reddick.
