Victor Wembanyama 2K rating: Spurs phenom makes history once again in NBA 2K25 video game

The release of NBA 2K25 is just around the corner with the world's most popular basketball video game set to hit the shelves on Friday, Sept. 6.

In the lead-up to the release, 2K has been rolling out the top 100 player ratings with the highest-rated player set to be announced on Monday, Aug. 26. The ratings as usual have created plenty of debate across social media.

One player fans were eagerly awaiting was Victor Wembanyama, who after creating history in NBA 2K24 as the highest-ever rated rookie (84) , finds himself among the game's elite following his rookie season.

Victor Wembanyama 2K rating

On Aug. 23, the Spurs franchise cornerstone had his rating revealed for NBA 2K25, coming in at a 91 overall.

Wemby joins a group of elite and established players like Ja Morant (90), Tyrese Haliburton (90), Kawhi Leonard (92), Kyrie Irving (92), Jaylen Brown (92) and Donovan Mitchell (92).

Wembanyama made history once again as the highest-rated second-year player in NBA 2K history, according to Ronnie 2K, the Digital Marketing Director for 2K Games.

"It's the highest rating for a second-year player after the highest rating for a first-year player, but he has not disappointed at any point," Ronnie 2K told The Sporting News at NBA 2K Community Day.

"Ever since that first Summer League game, he's been absolutely dominant, so sky's the limit. I mean, you saw him play internationally over the summer and he looked like he had taken another step, so he's only going to get better with experience and time.

"I don't think it's crazy, I think we're gonna go up from there this year, I really do."

International FIBA teams playable in NBA2K25

With the Paris 2024 Olympic Games tournament putting on a show for basketball fans around the world, international basketball is at the forefront of everyone's mind.

Seeing Team USA led by the Avengers in LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant taking down Wembanyama's France in the gold medal game, fans will now get a taste of the FIBA game in NBA 2K.

FIBA games will be available via Heart of a Dynasty in MyCAREER, a backstory where players go through high school, college and the FIBA U19 World Cup before making it to the NBA.

"[It's] always important to represent the international game, that's where a lot of our growth continues to come from, both the NBA and 2K," Ronnie 2K added.

"Being able to see that in MyCourt and the representation there, especially coming off such a highly momentous Summer Games, it was super fun, so I think it's definitely gonna be fun to see them in the game again."
