Say what? Commanders new stadium name spurs confusion

Washington Commanders fans have been forced to make many adjustments in recent years, some good and some bad.

The team name went from Redskins to Football Team to Commanders.  Some would like to see the team embrace its Redskins roots, but that won't be happening.

Then, there has been a change of ownership.  This is a good development because Josh Harris is already righting previous wrongs concerning former players like Sean Taylor and Darrell Green .

There is a new coaching staff and a roster that has been overhauled. Jayden Daniels is the rookie quarterback who could become the face of the organization while surrounded by veteran talent such as Austin Ekeler and Terry McLaurin.

This leads us to the latest change announced on Tuesday, the stadium name.  The Commanders will be playing in Northwest Stadium.  Northwest Federal Credit Union is the sponsor.

Of course, this is a sponsorship-based decision, but did anyone consider that Washington, DC is neither in the north nor the west?  To get technical, the team plays in Landover, Maryland.

Wouldn't Northwest Federal Credit Union Stadium (though a mouthful) be a better and less confusing name?
