One former member of the Green Bay Packers wasn't available on the open market for too long.

The Packers had to trim down their roster to 53 players on Tuesday and one player they cut was receiver Samori Toure. The third-year receiver was attempting to land a spot on the Packers' active roster, but he was unable to do so.

He didn't remain available on the open market for long, though, as he reportedly is signing with the Chicago Bears' practice squad, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"An in-division change of teams: Former Packers WR Samori Toure is signing with the Bears practice squad, per source," Schefter said.

It's unclear what Toure's role will be with the Bears, but he likely will be a depth piece. It's unclear if he will end up seeing much time at all on the active roster as Chicago is very deep at receiver.

The Bears currently have D. J. Moore, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze projected to be the team's starting receivers. Toure likely is injury insurance for the Bears and only will see time with Chicago if one pops up.

He spent the first two seasons of his career with the Packers and logged 13 receptions in 22 games played to go along with one touchdown. There now is just under two weeks to go until the 2024 National Football League regular season kicks off. Hopefully, Toure is able to shine on the practice squad and get an opportunity at some point.
