No. 14 Clemson travels to Atlanta to face No. 1 Georgia on Saturday in the biggest opening-season game on the CFB Week 1 slate.

Clemson's task is daunting, as Georgia hasn't lost a regular-season game since 2020. That 44-28 loss came against Florida at the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party in Jacksonville.

The Bulldogs are seeking their third national championship in the last four years. Can the Tigers hang with the 'Dogs? Let's find out as we examine Clemson vs. Georgia odds, prop bets & predictions.

    Clemson betting news

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik struggled in his first year as starting QB for the Tigers, with nine interceptions to go with 19 TDs.

Klubnik, who averages only 6.3 yards per pass attempt, threw for more than 300 yards just twice last season, and one of those games was a 66-17 rout over Charleston Southern.

Clemson's passing attack involved a lot of short throws to running back Will Shipley, who averaged more than five yards after the catch. The problem is Shipley is now a member of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles.

Clemson RB Phil Mafah could take some of the pressure off Klubnik. Mafah ran for a team-high 965 yards and led the Tigers with 13 TDs last season.

The Tigers opened the 2021 season against the Bulldogs and lost, 10-3. We're not expecting this game to be as low-scoring, but it's hard to envision Clemson scoring more than 17 points against a Georgia defense that yielded a little less than that per game last season.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney doesn't believe in the transfer portal (and the Tigers didn't add a single player), and his defense suffered the departure of leading tackler Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

Clemson is also young along the defensive front, as it replaced three of its best four pass rushers. Sophomore DE T.J. Parker leads that group after performing well as a true freshman last year.

    Georgia betting news

Georgia quarterback Carson Beck ranks among the betting favorites to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy . Beck threw for nearly 4,000 yards and 24 touchdowns last season.

The Bulldogs are loaded on offense, with former Florida RB Trevor Etienne and wide receivers Dominic Lovett and Dillon Bell.

Monitor the status of Etienne leading up to kickoff, as he may serve a one-game suspension stemming from an offseason DUI incident. Branson Robinson, who missed all of last season due to a knee injury, will fill the void if Etienne isn't available.

Georgia's offensive line returned four starters, and the Bulldogs are again expected to feature a balanced attack. Georgia averaged 191.2 rushing yards per game last season (and more than five yards per carry).

You can expect Beck to attack a Clemson secondary that lost starting cornerbacks Nate Wiggins and Sheridan Jones. Beck has a chance to break Stetson Bennett's school record for passing yards (4,127) in a single season.

Georgia's defense is perennially among the nation's stingiest. Edge rusher Mykel Williams and cornerback Malaki Starks return as the headliners on a defensive unit that held opponents to 16.3 points per game last season.

The last time these two teams met was in the 2021 opener at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Clemson managed just two rushing yards and three points in that tilt.

If Georgia continually shuts down Mafah between the tackles, Clemson's lack of a downfield passing attack could let this game get out of hand.

    Clemson vs. Georgia ATS pick

It's hard to envision Clemson hanging with Georgia here. Perhaps Swinney should reconsider his decision not to utilize the transfer portal, as Klubnik was less than stellar last season. We expect Georgia to win this opener comfortably in a game where Clemson struggles to move the ball and score with a lean to the UNDER.
