The Indianapolis Colts will host free-agent running back Leonard Fournette for a visit Monday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter .

Searching for depth behind starter Jonathan Taylor and at other positions, the Colts brought in a handful of free agents to begin the week.

A familiar face to the Colts, Fournette was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars .

Fournette never truly returned a strong investment the Jaguars made with that type of draft capital. He spent four seasons in Duval County, appearing in 36 games (all starts).

Fournette had two 1,000-yard seasons with the Jaguars before the team declined his fifth-year option and waived him just before teh start of the 2020 season.

Fournette signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ahead of the 2020 season and wound up spending three total seasons there (2020-2022), taking 466 carries for 1,847 yards and 17 touchdowns in 43 games (25 starts).

The LSU product spent most of the 2023 season on the Buffalo Bills practice squad, appearing in two games during the regular season before his release in January.

The Colts likely are looking at Fournette and others due to the hamstring injury that has been bothering Trey Sermon since the preseason opener.

They also have Tyler Goodson as the No. 3 running back and 2023 fifth-round pick Evan Hull on the practice squad.
