Noah Fant injury: Latest on Seattle Seahawks tight end's status going into Week 1

The Seattle Seahawks have released their first official injury report of the 2024 NFL season. On Sunday, Seattle will play host to former Oregon quarterback Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos, but it sounds like the team might be a little bit shorthanded at tight end.

Two players were listed as non-participants at today's practice: outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, who has a sprained MCL and is expected to miss at least a few weeks, and tight end Pharaoh Brown, who suffered a foot injury in the second joint practice with the Tennessee Titans.

That's bad news for the Seahawks, because starting tight end Noah Fant was also on the injury report as one of four limited participants. Fant has been dealing with a lingering toe issue that he suffered in practice about one month ago.

While he's hurt right now, Fant should project to be a much larger part of Seattle's offense going forward than he had been under former offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. The Seahawks re-signed him to a two-year, $21 million deal this offseason.

While tight ends were at a premium early in free agency, some analysts think that was a massive overpay and at least one thinks it's the league's worst investment at this spot. For what it's worth, ESPN is projecting Fant will post 46 catches, 453 yards and two touchdowns in 2024. We're taking the over on that one.

Wide receiver Tyler Lockett (thigh), safety Rayshawn Jenkins (calf) and defensive end Dre'Mont Jones (hamstring) were also listed as limited on the injury report.
