    Super Bowl 59 halftime show: Rapper Kendrick Lamar tabbed to headline 2025 championship in New Orleans

    Kendrick Lamar is simply not like us.

    Just hours ahead of the first Sunday slate of NFL football in Week 1, the rapper announced that he has been tabbed as the halftime show performer for Super Bowl 59 in February.

    It marks the second time in Lamar's career that he is entertaining fans on the biggest sporting stage. He previously was a part of the halftime show for Super Bowl LII in 2022 when he was a part of Dr. Dre's extensive list of performers, joining Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and 50 Cent.

    Super Bowl 59 is scheduled to be played on Feb. 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La.

    Kendrick Lamar halftime show

    Lamar announced on his YouTube channel that he will be the halftime performance for Super Bowl 59.

    The rapper has been a mainstay in the music industry dating back to his breakout album, "Good Kid, m.A.A.d City" in 2012. Lamar is known for his hits such as "Humble," "Swimming Pools," "DNA," "Alright" and "All the Stars."

    Lamar has earned plenty of accolades during his career. Regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time, the Compton native has won a Primetime Emmy Award, 17 Grammy Awards, one Brit Award, four American Music Awards, six Billboard Music Awards, 11 MTV Video Music Awards, and 29 BET Hip Hop Awards.

    The 37-year-old has most recently been involved in a beef with fellow rapper, Drake . Lamar released a number of diss tracks in regards to the Canadian artist, with his most popular tunes being "Not Like Us" and "Meet the Grahams."

    Has Kendrick Lamar performed at the Super Bowl before?

    Lamar previously was a part of the Super Bowl halftime show in 2022, where a number of rappers collaborated for the intermission entertainment. The rapper performed his hits, "m.A.A.d City" and "Alright," as well as joining Eminem and Dr. Dre on "Forgot About Dre."
