    19-year-old sentenced after deadly Spring Brook Twp. crash

    SPRING BROOK TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) A 19-year-old boy has been sentenced to state prison for the deadly crash that left a 17-year-old boy dead.

    In July of 2023, Ayden Beckage of Jefferson Township was charged with homicide by vehicle after driving under the influence in Spring Brook Township.

    On June 10 a Jeep Station Wagon was traveling along Route 307 in Spring Brook Township when the car left the roadway and crashed down a steep embankment, ejecting the passenger, 17-year-old, Kadan Rabender, and causing the vehicle to ignite in flames, as stated by state police.

    Beckage and Rabender both attended North Pocono High School, Beckage had just graduated from the high school on June 9 and they two spent the evening and early morning celebrating.

    Officials note Beckage’s BAC was %0.127 as well as high levels of marijuana in his system.

    Beckage pled guilty in May and was sentenced July 23 to three to six years in State Prison, two years probation, and a $1,000 fine.
