The city said it was canceling the fireworks in March. A community fundraising effort, including a major donation from Cincinnati Bengals coach Zac Taylor, saved the event. Impact Day: Additional storms Friday bring chance for gusty winds, heavy rain
CINCINNATI — As Fourth of July celebrations continue today, so will the storms. Plan on heat and humidity again, too!. The morning starts with some patchy fog and muggy temperatures in the 70s. Anytime between 9 and noon today, a few showers or rumbles of thunder will be likely between the late morning and midday. Those push out and we'll have some redeveloping storms around 3pm this afternoon. Some of those may be on the strong side with gusty winds and heavy rain. The threat for stronger weather will be higher if the midday rain coverage is spotty. Highs today will warm to the upper 80s but it will feel more like the low 90s.
Hamilton County submits draft plan to reduce sewer overflows
Hamilton County officials have submitted the Phase 2B plan for bringing the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati into compliance with the Clean Water Act. The 10-year plan is the next step in reducing how much untreated sewage and storm water overflows into waterways during heavy rainstorms. About 7 billion gallons of untreated sewage overflows into the Ohio River, the Mill Creek, and other waters every year. That’s about half the amount that was overflowing annually before the consent decree was put in place 15 years ago.

Drier weather will work its way into the Ohio Valley Region Friday night into Saturday and allow for a brief break of the humid conditions. Saturday and Sunday both will be dry with mostly sunny skies in the day and mostly clear conditions at night. Highs will be in the 80s with lows in the 60s.
