From the national weather service in Tulsa Oklahoma 4:55am. Dangerous heat persists across the region today. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect from noon until 9 PM for much of eastern Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas. A Heat Advisory is in effect from noon until 9 PM for parts of far northeast Oklahoma and far northwest Arkansas. Maximum heat indices between 110-115 degrees are expected within the warning area and up to 109 degrees in the advisory. Afternoon and evening storms may develop again today near a weak surface boundary. Some storms may become strong to severe, with damaging winds in excess of 70 miles an hour being the main severe weather threat.

Norman, OK – Oklahoma residents are in for a sweltering weekend as temperatures are expected to reach as high as 104°F, with the added risk of severe thunderstorms. According to the National Weather Service in Norman, Friday’s forecast includes a low risk of severe storms primarily affecting areas north of I-40. The primary concerns are large hail and damaging winds, particularly in the late afternoon and evening hours.

U of Oklahoma dental school launches state's 1st pediatric residency
The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry launched the first pediatric dental residency program in the state. The two-year program is 80% patient care and 20% didactic, and is focused on training residents to provide dental care to children with an emphasis on care for children with medical complexities and developmental conditions, according to an Aug. 14 news release from the university.
